Born and raised in Mkoba 7, Gweru, Leona Lillie is an Afro-pop musician known for her love for Zimbabwe, her country of birth. She always dreamed of becoming the star, which she is well on course to become.
Leona Furusa, AKA Leona Lillie (17), started one of her dreams when she did a song cover of Wakatemba by Tocky Vibes and Ex Q.
Her musical journey did not begin only after the release of the song Wakatemba where Leona released the cover video of the song, it started when she was in form 2 and got the first position in the junior category after she went to compete in the Starbright Talent Show.
She then signed with Puro diBest, the owner and producer of Basic Black Pro Best Records, and has so far released 2 singles titled Tene Tene and Gara Ikoko featuring Puro diBest and Pala.
In an exclusive interview, Leona said she has become a shining star for Gweru in just a snap of a finger, and she is grateful to her manager Prosper Kumirai and her sponsor Gary King for helping her set and shape her goal talent.
She said, “It all happened so fast that sometimes I ask myself if this is really me, but in the end, I live the dream.”
“I once ignored my manager when I recognized my talent and I am very grateful to him for his presence in my music career, and my sponsor Gary King should not be forgotten for my sponsorship either.”
“I am looking forward to work with Adiswa Bansa from Joyous celebration who has loved my music and identified the talent I have,” she added.
